How the hell do you manage to get 16 MPG out of V6? If you're gonna get that kinda mileage why did you take the V8 out of the Expedition/Navigator? Seriously it's stupid.

6000 lbs bro

If it makes you feel better, my Honda's V6 makes about the same.

But it's stupid to put a V6 in it if you're gonna get the exact same milage out of a V8

Because it improves on the Expedition V8's gas mileage, if only slightly, while also greatly increasing power output, and probably reduces emissions at the same time. Additionally, wasn't the Expedition the last vehicle Ford produces using that particular V8? Putting a different engine in probably saves them some money by retiring that old one.

But couldn't they put what ever they put in the non Powerstroke Super Duty in there?

But it makes it sound like you are getting a fuel efficient engine with more horsepower which is all that matters to Ford marketing people.

Hey, they did it with the Ranger.

That definitely wouldn't increase the fuel economy, let alone keep it the same, it probably has something to do with CAFE regulations.

You'd think they could tune the V8, which turns at a lower RPM I believe, to match or better the V6's mileage.

Ford took a big heavy vehicle and put in a smaller motor that both makes more power and gets better mileage.
Why would they instead go for an even bigger motor that gets even worse mileage?

I think the 6.2 gets better mileage and moar powah

You also have to remember, a flash tune on an Ecoboost can easily put you at over 500 ft. lbs. of torque. Also, look it last years V8 numbers. Unless you put in a diesel, you are going to have a hard time getting over 20mpg city in something that heavy.

It would get terrible MPG.

But all the powah...

Because I'm an idiot like that okay?

This is why.

Maybe it's just that a giant vehicle needs that much gas to move around.

Because they're on an EcoBoost high that's gonna result in a lot of turbo replacements in big vehicles like the Expedition. I think the 5.0 should've gone in there.

Finally someone that agrees with me.

I'm all for turbos until it's going on a V6 (or I4 in some instances) in a big vehicle. Turbos in a V8 in a big truck? Sure, but nothing smaller.

Same, just stick a Powerstroke in it. Those things get pretty good mileage. 6.7 turbo diesel V8!

Wow. That's terrible. A twin turbo v8 ml550 gets that.
